The Giants have won three straight and are now 1 1/2 games back in the National League Wild-Card race. They have a chance to gain some ground with the Guardians in town, as they arrive mired in a two-game skid. But their demise started awhile back, as they're 15-23 since July 31. Now they'll play their 11th straight game in as many days - including their fifth in a row on the road. Alex Cobb is up for San Francisco, and he's been remarkable in the Bay Area with a 5-2 home mark and 2.09 ERA in 11 starts there. He quieted visiting lineups to a .230 batting average, and should be able to tame the struggling Guardians tonight. Cobb should also enjoy run support, with Cleveland handing the ball to rookie Gavin Williams, who is just 2-5 with a 3.34 ERA this season, and who has a 5.28 ERA in his last four starts.
